Learning to Use the Computer

When first learning to use the computer, it is important that you learn to use the mouse and the keyboard.  The more comfortable you are with these two tools the eaiser it will be for you accomplish what you want on the computer.  

When I teach the introductory computer class I use an Mouse Tutorial from the Palm Beach County library.  It is easy to use, gives you information on using the mouse and is fun too.

Science fiction, er Speculative fiction?

Anybody out there reading science fiction?  How about speculative fiction?  (In case you’re wondering, they’re the same thing.  Sort of.

Knitting for a Difference-Spring Arbor

Knitting for Difference is a group of knitters in the community  that have been knitting "Chemo hats" and " Caps for Kids". In 2007, 381 were distributed and in 2008, 144 have been distributed  so far.

Hats and caps have gone to Cancer Center-Jackson, MI, Cancer Center- Marshall, MI, St. Luke's Free Clinic, Catholic Charities Linen Closet, Interfaith Shelter, and C.S. Mott's Children's Hospital

Teens and Libraries

Okay, so we have many teens and 'tweens (don't you hate that term?) at our branch, especially after school. And that's good! True, most of the them go immediately to the computers and/or the dvd's but, they're in the library!
