The Underground Railroad in Michigan

Drawing on the research for her recently published book, The Underground Railroad in Michigan, Carol E. Mull will present a program detailing the history of Underground Railroad activities in the state and this area. Ms. Mull will take questions and have books available for purchase and signing.
Carnegie: JXN Community Forum: The Evidence for Climate Change
Laura Thurlow, Assistant Professor of Biology at Jackson Community College, will present a primer on climate change, often referred to as global warming. Topics will include the causes and evidence of climate change and how the nations of the world are reacting.

November 5, 2011, 10:00-12 noon: Mr. Ernest Floeter, German Wehrmacht (Army). Mr. Floeter was in Normandy when the Allied invasion of Europe took place on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He tried to survive on his own for about two weeks but was taken as a POW and sent tot he USA for two years. He also talks about living in the Russian sector of Berlin for seven years after the war.
October 1, 2011, 10:00-12 noon: Barney Cramton, USN. 50 cal. machine gunner on a Grummen Avenger torpedo bomboer about the USS Essex in the Pacific. This is the same type of plane that former President George H. W. Bush flew. Mr Cramton floew over 40 combat missions off of the Essex.
