We are meeting on June 14th at 5:00 pm in the McIntyre Room in the Carnegie Buillding, 244 W. Michigan Ave, Jackson. We will be enjoying the second installment of the BBC production of "Wives & Daughters," as shown on Masterpiece Theatre. We will be serving tea with all the trimmings as we enjoy the lush portrayal of country life in England, circa 1850's.
One of the great things about this year's Big Read selection, A wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin, is that there are three more books, equally enthralling, in the Earthsea series, plus Le Guin has written dozens of other wonderful books. If you have read this book with your children, there are numerous other authors in the children's section that both children and adults will enjoy.
The February meeting of the Jane Austen Book Club will be held on February 8th at 6:00 pm at the Carnegie Bldg. The Lego Creativity Competition is ongoing at Spring Arbor and it has been amazing to see the unique creations. We have a giant snow plow ( for UP snow fall), warm and cozy home holiday scenes , hockey and ice skating rink, a ski rescue vehicle. The competition continues this week and we can't wait to see what the creative kids of Jackson County bring to us. Stop by.
Following an unexpected cancellation last month, the Jane Austen* Book Club is back next Monday, Oct. 13th at 6:30 pm in the McIntyre Room/ Carnegie building. We will be continuing our look at "Lady Susan", Austen's epistolary novel, published after her death. If you haven't read the book, don't worry. We will have copies of the pages for you to read at the meeting. Tea and cookies will be served.
