Next Monday, February 11th at 6:00 pm, the Jane Austen Book Club meets in the MacIntyre room in the Carnegie Building, 244 W. Michigan Ave. We have lots to talk about, especially last Sunday's Austen biopic on Masterpiece Classics.

A friend just sent me a link to a cool video about the sixties, that I thought I would share with all of you.
So, I started thinking, could be dangerous I know.
This past
Sunday saw another new version of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park introduced. Reviews are mixed due to the appalling lack of dialogue written by Miss Austen herself! That said, this version (MP3) did at least follow the plot of the novel unlike MP2. I found myself missing the gorgeous scenery from MP2. At least the hero, played by Blake Ritson, was good to look at! Check out the cast pictures and plot synopsis at the Masterpiece
Last Sunday adaptation of Northanger Abbey aired last
Sunday to wide critical acclaim. It's the story of a naive and very young country girl who is taken to the spa town of Bath by family friends and finds happiness, heartache and happiness again. Her addiction to Gothic novels gets her into trouble, but of course, all JA novels have an eventual happy ending. Delicious and funny dialogue, well delivered by a sparking cast, made the 90 minutes fly by.
