Dog Days of August at Eastern Branch

July 26, 2007

What better way to celebrate the 'dog days of summer' than with our own dog here at Eastern Branch!  Yes, we'll be having Officer Mills and the Michigan State Police K-9 dog here on Wednesday, August 8, at 10:30 AM.  Come on down and see how these beautiful animals help protect us.  The kids will love it!

Watch for our new children's book displays.  You'll notice we have started placing stacked picture books on top of the shelves to help you browse better and find some of the books that were often hidden in the stacks.  People I've asked say they like this very much.

We've already scheduled some computer classes here at the branch for this Fall.  Stay tuned and check our blog in September.  We'll be having at least two or three classes per month on a variety of topics like computers, job searching, health resources, genealogy, small business resources, etc. etc.

We've started posting adult book reviews from the Adult Summer Reading Program over the face-out book display near the adult computers.  Check these out for some helpful hints on what to read.

Our Expansion Plan Election is August 7th.   We'll be open lots more hours-over twenty more here at Eastern-and have lots more computers and better service in general to meet your needs.  Remember to vote!

Library Expansion plan

I hope I can help clear up some confusion about this

The original post about the expansion plan was written in July before the election, to encourage people to vote. It is now just an historical bit of information.

Regrettably the millage did not pass.

I cannot not speak on behalf of the library, but I believe that they are currently thinking about and trying to decide on alternative options and what next steps they need or should take.
