Reading is a wonderful, relaxing way to stimulate and enhance brain activity—not to mention alleviate boredom! Adult Summer Reading is a Jackson District Library program designed to promote reading as a leisure activity among adults.  Beginning June 1st and continuing until the 31st of August, participants may fill out prize entry forms for each book(may be audiobooks) completed during the program. We also have summer reading programs for children and teens, which makes this a great way for you to set a positive example. Bring the whole family in to any branch to register and get started.
There are some great new summer books coming out by blockbuster authors, including Dean Koontz (Lost souls), Nora Roberts (The search), Tess Gerritsen (Ice cold), and John Sandford (Storm prey). Of course, Janet Evanovich's Sizzling sixteen is not to be missed! Those who aren't shy about sharing their opinions might want to take advantage of our book reviews.  Simply fill out a book review form, anonymously, and earn the chance to fill out another prize entry form!  These reviews are placed in binders at each branch, for patrons to look over for reading suggestions. If there is a book that wowed you, don't keep it to yourself!  Let everyone know.  Similarly, if you simply hated it--tell us that, too. Quick and easy and fun for all of us.
Did we mention that for each book entry completed, you get a chance to win prizes? This year we will be giving away small monthly prizes and then, in September, three grand prizes worth approximately $100 each.
