I'd like to welcome all of you who use our wonderful Eastern Branch Library. You can find us on East Michigan Avenue, just East of Dettman Road, on the same side as Meijer's.
Since this is our first blog entry, I'd like to tell you a little bit about us. We're the second largest branch in the Jackson District Library System, and our great staff has a wide variety of professional skills and interests to benefit our patrons. We have worked in health care, business and educational settings before finding that perfect career for us-working in a library. Like all library staff, we love to read. Whether it's mysteries, general fiction, or non-fiction, you'll find someone here to help you satisfy your every reading urge.
We’re expanding the amount of workshops, speakers and other programs here at Eastern Branch, so be sure to check the events link at the top of the library’s web page for some of the neat things we will be offering you in the coming weeks and months. This fall we will start a series of classes in the Knibloe Meeting Room. You’ll be able to find all sorts of helpful workshops like Microsoft Word, Introduction to Computers and Email, Online Health Resources, Small Business Online Resources, Library Databases For Research and Homework, and many others.
Speaking of library databases, did you know that the Jackson District Library provides you with a huge amount of information in the many databases we subscribe to? You can find almost anything you want in these soup-to-nut offerings, from full-text academic journal articles to reliable health information, business magazines and resources, popular reading magazines and newspapers, homework sites, legal forms, practice tests, Chilton’s Auto Repair Manuals, reading databases that help you find that perfect book, and all sorts of other information. Better yet, you get access to all these at no charge, and can get them right here in the library, or in the comfort of your own home! Call us at 788-4074 if you have questions about how to find all this info, or stop in so we can show you.
