The Jane Austen Book Club for November meets on Monday, the 9th at 6:00 pm in the McIntyre Room at the Jackson District Library Carnegie building, 244 W. Michigan. We will be discussing "Mansfield Park." This book is an interesting departure for Austen in that the heroine, Fanny Price, is not the wittiest, most scintillating girl in the book. In my humble opinion, Mary Crawford is much more intriguing than Fanny, until her mask slips and her true nature is revealed. Then unassuming, meek Fanny wins the day, but only after much suffering and heartbreak.
Speaking of heartbreak, our last collegian decided to go out of town to school, so we will only see her at breaks and summer. Good luck, Joanna, and continued luck to Sarah and Maria - we miss you all.
As always, tea and cakes will be served. Come discuss whether Fanny is too good to be true, or is Mary too bad. Everyone is invited to join us.
