I love, Fannie Flaggs books.   This one Standing in the Rainbow is exellent.  It takes place in Elmwood Springs, Missouri.   It follows Bobby Smith through the years from 1946- to the present. but it is full of quirky, funny, eccentric, loveable, human characters.  Inc luding Neighbor Dorthy, Tot Wooten, Macky and Norma Warren, and their 90 year old  great Aunt Elner.

The book is homey, and hilarious and touching. Pure Fannie Flagg.  It was one of those books you hate to see end. It was like having to say good-by to old friends.

If you liked Fried Green Tomatoes, You will enjoy this book too.
