I thought this would be a fun BLOG topic. I love Golden Retrievers - you can tell by my avatar! My current dog is Jake, who is 3+ years old. He is a light Golden color like this.

My first Golden, Jessie, was Dark red. Goldens have a wonderful, loving disposition and are great with kids. My niece and nephew used her for a pillow when they were very young. She tolerated them playing with her ears, lifting her lips to see her teeth and even take food from her
Jake has always been more independent that Jessie was. Maybe it's a boy thing! He wasn't very cuddly as a puppy but now he wants to cuddle with me on cold nights watching TV.
What's your favorite breed and why?

My favorite breed
I Love Goldent Retrievers too! They are so loving and smart and calm, as opposed to Labrador retrievers that are pretty hyper.
Our current dog is a labranees or a pyrador, (a cross between a labrador and a great pyrenees. He was pretty hyper as a pup, but has mellowed out now but weighs about 120 pounds.
ALL DOGS
We have a West Highland White Terrier (Westie) and a Bernese Mountain Dog. I have raised three Yellow Labradors for Leader Dog's for the Blind. Two made it into the program and one became a breeder and family pet for 13 years. He was hands-down the best dog we've ever had, and it's a pretty tight race because they were all fabulous. I've also had a German Shepherd, an Old English Sheepdog, and a few mutts (that sort of dates me, doesn't it?). I think a dog is a reflection of its owner. The more time you spend with your dog the better dog it will be. Walk your dog and walk it often and it will be your best friend for life, not to mention the health benefits for you. It's a win-win!
Great owners have great dogs.
Great big dogs

Favorite Dog Breed
I have had many dogs over the years. I even worked for 2 veterinarians for about 2 years. My favorite is a Shih-Tzu. I have a 12 year old female (Abagail) and a 1 year old (Rosie). They are very loving dogs and very personable. Definitely a lap dog. BUT I am a dog lover and I have 3 others at home. I have a Sheltie/Collie mix (Maisey), a Bichon/pug mix (Bailey), and a new six month old Rottweiler/Lab/Australian Shepherd mix (Jake). He is not in the photo, because he isn't trained and would just jump all over. I included a separate picture of him. In addition I have a hamster named Stuart, a yellow cockatiel named Sunny, and a black cat named Dash. Of course this is in addition to my husband, my daughter, her husband, three daughters, their Sheltie/Collie mix (Brandy), and hamster (Alena) who are living with us for a few months. Did I forget anyone???
I really enjoy my pets!!! (and family!!!)

Dogs
For years I had Aussies and I love them but my current Aussie is evil. She loves my husband and follows him around like he was made of Bacon. Then we took in a stray and I am guessing he is Husky/German Shepherd. He is a great dog, however he ate our couch and he loves to climb our six foot fence, just to visit our neighbors. Because two dogs are never enough, I recently purchased a Parsons terrier Puppy and Cairn Terrier puppy needless to say I am completly insane but I love them all. The Cairn Terrier is the most reliable one out of all of them.
I love both of those
I love both of those breeds too. I'm thinking of a Cairn terrier for our next dog.
