The right-wing extremist -- who killed 77 people in a bombing and shooting rampage on July 22, 2011 -- enclosed a typed list of 12 demands sent to prison authorities in November. He described as "torture" the conditions in two prisons -- Ila near Oslo and Skien in southeast Norway -- where he is serving out a 21-year sentence. The demands include better conditions for his daily walk and the right to communicate more freely with the outside world, which he argues are in line with European rights legislation.
In 2013, sales of Sony’s new PlayStation 4 video game console crushed Xbox One sales by a wide margin, even when accounting for the fact that the PS4 was available for an additional week in November. Sony moved 4.2 million PS4 consoles in 2013 while Microsoft’s sales through the end of the year totaled 3 million units. 2014 is a new year, however, and January sales were eagerly anticipated as industry watchers look for clues on how this new round of the everlasting console war is going. According to NPD Group’s January numbers for U.S. console sales, not much has changed for Microsoft since last year. In fact, Sony’s margin of victory looks like it has widened. Market research firm

People will be comparing the brand new video game consoles from Sony and Microsoft in any number of ways for years to come. Sales, power, performance, utility, home entertainment capabilities and more are all valid points of comparison, but another angle we keep seeing pop up gives us a different perspective on the current-generation “console wars.” As developers continue to test Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4, feedback they share could give us an idea of what to expect from game makers on each platform — and according to one independent game lab, Xbox One is the place to be for indies. “[Xbox One is] easily the most appealing console platform for developers like us to release on,” independent video
A strong launch lineup and a few major system updates won’t be enough to put the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4 in 2014, if Wedbush Securities is correct in its predictions. According to a recent report from the analysts at Wedbush, the PlayStation 4 will outsell the Xbox One 12 million to 9 million this year, owing mostly to the $100 price difference between the two consoles. “The lack of differentiation between the PS4 and the Xbox One means that consumers will initially make their purchase decision based on brand loyalty or price, with the former favoring Microsoft and the latter favoring Sony,” wrote Wedbush. “Our choice of the PS4 to win the next generation console race is purely

By Ritsuko Ando HELSINKI (Reuters) - Finnish mobile game maker Supercell plans to launch a third game next month, hoping to replicate its success with hits "Clash of Clans" and "Hay Day" that helped it to earn $892 million in revenue last year. The growth in revenue from $101 million in 2012, to an average of around $2.4 million a day, underscores a boom in mobile gaming and Supercell's spectacular rise since it was founded in 2010. In October, Supercell sold a 51 percent stake in the company to Japanese tech and telecoms group SoftBank Corp for 150 billion yen, a deal that valued it at $3 billion - more than Zynga, which sold former hits such as "FarmVille." Its popular games "Clash of Clans" and "Hay Day" reached the top spot in Apple's App Store in 137 and 96 countries respectively, SoftBank said in October. Supercell said its annual earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew to $464 million from $51 million in 2012 and a loss in 2011.
