The average ticket price hit $7.96, a three-cent bump from last year, but still the biggest annual number when not adjusted for inflation. For the fourth quarter of 2012, 3D releases, such as "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and "Rise of the Guardians," pushed ticket prices to $8.05. That was a 3.4 percent bump from the $7.78 cents audiences shelled out on average over the three months ending in September. ...

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Roger Deakins won the top feature-film award from the American Society of Cinematographers on Sunday night for "Skyfall," meaning that "Argo" only went two-for-three on a weekend of film awards ceremonies. While "Argo" won at the Scripter Awards on Friday and the BAFTA Awards earlier Sunday, it was not even nominated for an ASC Award, where Deakins' work on the James Bond movie "Skyfall" won out over Danny Cohen for "Les Miserables," Claudio Miranda for "Life of Pi," Janusz Kamninski for "Lincoln" and Seamus McGarvey for "Anna Karenina. ...

"You are remarkable at what you do. ...
BERLIN (Reuters) - Actress Luminita Gheorghiu plays a domineering mother trying to save her son from jail in "Child's Pose", a stark family drama from Romania competing in this year's Berlin film festival. The movie, directed by Calin Peter Netzer, shines an unforgiving light on the casual corruption and flashy materialism of post-communist Romania's upper middle class which expects to be able to buy itself out of any difficulty. ...

BERLIN (Reuters) - British actor Steve Coogan and director Michael Winterbottom reunite for "The Look of Love", a biopic of pornography publisher and night club impresario Paul Raymond that brings to the screen the sleaze, success and tragedy in his life. Dubbed the "king of porn", or, more politely, the "King of Soho" after the London area where his empire was based, Raymond began amassing his fortune in 1958 with the opening of the "Raymond Revuebar" and expanded to theatre and men's magazines. ...
NEW YORK (Reuters) - More than 2,700 dogs are converging on New York City for the 137th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Monday and Tuesday, including at least 50 Labrador retrievers who can only be hoping for an historic upset. Each year, members of the Labrador-loving public tend to have only two questions for Thomas Bradley, the show's chairman. "Why did that little dog win?" is one, with the emphasis on 'little,' he said. "How come a Labrador never wins?" is the other, Bradley recalled with a laugh. ...
